Using a Single Uniaxial Gyroscope to Detect Lateral Ankle Sprain Hazard

Lateral ankle sprain is very common in sports. Recently, there was a wearable assistive technology that stimulates the peroneal muscles to prevent this injury, but it requires monitoring system detect injury hazards and actuate protection. This study presents feasibility of uniaxial gyroscope monitor peak inversion velocity during sporting motion simulated motion. Ten males performed walking, running, 45-deg cutting, vertical jump-landing, stepping-down from block, 5 kinds on simulators, manual ankle-twisting biomechanics laboratory. The collected by an optical analysis at 120 Hz. Besides, attached heel collect twisting 500 Pearson test showed strong or high positive correlation between two parameters. Independent t-test no difference parameters all testing motions except which value 82% capture both values are above threshold, 300 deg/s. We concluded method applicable hazard lateral injury.
